Sri Lanka secured a commanding victory over Bangladesh by a margin of 328 runs in the first Test, advancing to a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

Kasun Rajitha impressed with a bowling figure of 5/56 as Bangladesh was dismissed for 182 runs in their second innings, with Mominul Haque standing unbeaten at 87, according to AFP reports.

Bangladesh's innings resumed at 47/5 on the fourth day after their top order collapsed in just over an hour before the close of play on Sunday.

Sri Lanka, maintaining their unbeaten record in Test series against Bangladesh, posted a total of 280 runs in their first innings, to which Bangladesh responded with 188.

In the second innings, the visitors scored 418 runs, with both first-innings centurions de Silva and Kamindu Mendis achieving centuries for the second time in the match.

This feat made them only the third pair from the same country to score centuries in both innings of a Test match, following Australia's Chappell brothers, Greg and Ian, and Pakistan's Misbah-ul-Haq and Azhar Ali.

The second and final match of the series is scheduled to take place in Chittagong starting from March 30th.
