Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury has stated that the information circulating about Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus receiving the UNESCO 'Tree of Peace' award is not accurate.

Speaking to journalists at the secretariat on Wednesday (March 27), Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury said that Dr. Muhammad Yunus has falsely propagated the news of receiving the UNESCO award. The award has been received by an Israeli sculptor.

He said, "We have contacted UNESCO regarding the matter of the award. They have informed us that Dr. Yunus has not been awarded the 'Tree of Peace' award."

He further stated, "Dr. Yunus is causing confusion with the UNESCO's name and is engaging in propaganda, which is regrettable. Even now, UNESCO's awarded prize is being promoted on the Yunus Center website."

The Education Minister informed that UNESCO will be notified, saying, "Dr. Yunus is a controversial and convicted individual. He has violated labor rights."
