Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr people are heading home, resulting in increased traffic on the country's highways. In this time a surge in vehicles was observed at the toll plaza on the Mawa end of the Padma Bridge, which the crucial link to the southwestern region of Bangladesh, on Saturday.

Meanwhile in despite of the increased volume, traffic remained manageable.

There were no reports of traffic congestion or significant slowdowns along the route. Vehicles smoothly traversed the Padma Bridge via the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Expressway. Private cars outnumbered long-distance public transport vehicles.

Padma Bridge Site Office Additional Director Md Amirul Haider Chowdhury assured that there was no undue pressure on the bridge.

He said that traffic flow was steady, with no bottlenecks observed, facilitating the smooth return of people to their homes via the Padma Bridge.
