300 BGB Platoons Deployed

The third phase of the sixth upazila parishad elections will be held in 90 upazilas on Wednesday (May 29). The elections in 19 upazila parishad have been postponed due to the devastation caused by Cyclone Remal.
Meanwhile a total of 300 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across the country to maintain law and order situation during the 3rd phase of the 6th Upazila Parishad Election.
It is reported that BGB will work as a mobile and striking force to maintain peace and order in the electoral areas from May 27 to May 31.
Meanwhile Election Commission (EC) also ordered Inspector General of Police (IGP) to withdraw five Officers-in-Charge (OCs) due to their controversial records in the sixth phase upazila parishad polls.
According to the Election Code of Conduct, all forms of campaigning are stopped 32 hours before polling. Voting in 90 upazilas of the third phase will be held tomorrow. So, the candidates will not be able to conduct any kind of campaign after 12:00 PM on Monday.
