A 15-km long traffic jam has been created on the Dhaka-Tangail highway due to increased traffic pressure. The congestion was created early in the morning (June 12) from Tangail Sadar’s Rabna bypass to Analiabari of kalihati upazila on the highway.

According to police and transport workers, since midnight, vehicles have been moving slowly due to the ongoing construction work of the four-lane highway project and the excessive rush of vehicles.

Elenga Highway Police Outpost in-charge Mir Sajedur Rahman said the construction work of four-lane from Elenga to the Bridge on the highway, is underway.

"Hopefully, the situation will improve as the day progresses," he added. Also he said that there was no traffic jam in Elenga.

By the morning, the tailback expanded to the Rasulpur area of Tangail in the morning, reports our Tangail correspondent.

Besides, Dhaka-bound passengers and commuters also faced heavy traffic congestion on the entire link road from Gol Chattar on the eastern end of the bridge.
