Due to the growing of vehicle pressure on both sides of the Bangabandhu Bridge ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, a 13-km-long tailback formed today on the Dhaka-Tangail highway. The traffic jam occurred around 7 am on Thursday. The tailback expanded from Bangabandhu Bridge East to the Elenga area of Kalihati Upazila of Tangail in the morning, reports our Tangail correspondent.
The movement of construction tucks of the ongoing four-lane highway construction project on the eastern end of the bridge to Elenga is hampering the vehicles' uninterrupted progress.
Moreover, several accidents have occurred at different places on the highway. But no one died. Vehicles have been moving slowly as it takes some time to evacuate the accident vehicles. But there is no traffic jam anywhere.
Elenga highway police outpost in-charge OC Mir Md. Sajedur Rahman said that the four-lane highway from Elenga to Bangabandhu bridge is under construction, so a long line of vehicles has formed. Traffic movement will be normal soon.
