Separate road accidents in the districts of Pabna and Dinajpur have claimed the lives of nine people. These incidents occurred last night (Thursday, July 4) and this morning (Friday, July 5).
According to reports from local correspondents, five people were killed in Ishwardi, Pabna when a private car lost control and crashed into a tree. The accident, which also injured three others, took place around 9 PM on Thursday (July 4) on the Pabna-Ishwardi highway in front of Dashuria Sugar Mill. The identities of the victims were initially unknown.
The deceased have been identified as Bijoy (23), son of Anwar Hossain from Azampur village in Dashuria union, Jihad (14), son of Kuddus Pramanik from the same village, Shihab, son of Sirajul Islam, Rabiul Islam, son of Abdur Razzak Pramanik, and Shishir (15), son of Ilyas Hossain from Baraichara village in Salimpur union.
Ashish Kumar Sanyal, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pakshi Highway Police Station, confirmed the incident. He stated that the private car was traveling from Ishwardi to Pabna when it lost control and hit an electric pole and a tree, killing three people on the spot. Two others died after being taken to the hospital. Three injured individuals received initial treatment at Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex before being transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Shafiqul Islam Shamim, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex, reported that three people died on the spot, two others died at the hospital, and the remaining injured were sent to Rajshahi for further treatment.
Meanwhile, in Dinajpur, a collision between a passenger bus and a truck on the Fulbari road in the Paichbari area resulted in four fatalities and 25 injuries.
The accident occurred around 6 AM today (Friday, July 5) on the Dinajpur-Fulbari highway near the Ariyan Petrol Pump in the Chokram Pur (Doisoi) area of Paichbari Bazar. The identities of the victims were initially unknown.
Farid Hossain, OC of Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station, confirmed the incident. He reported that a Nabil Paribahan bus traveling from Dhaka to Thakurgaon collided head-on with an oncoming truck in Paichbari. The truck driver and the bus driver’s assistant died on the spot. Police and a fire service team arrived at the scene and transported the injured to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital, where a child and another person died.
Jinna Al Mamun, Additional Superintendent of Police for Dinajpur Sadar Circle, mentioned that traffic has returned to normal and legal actions regarding the incident are in progress.
