DMP Commissioner Urges Compliance With Court Orders Amid Student Protests

DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman emphasized the necessity of adhering to court orders and stated that any unruly activities will not be tolerated, urging everyone to have faith in the court. He made these remarks in response to journalists' questions while participating virtually in the 'Walton-CRAB Sports Festival and Fruit Festival' at Cab Chatter in Segunbagicha, Dhaka, on Friday afternoon. Social Welfare Minister Dr. Dipu Moni attended the event as the chief guest.

The DMP Commissioner mentioned that the Supreme Court's Appellate Division has issued a one-month stay on the High Court's judgment regarding the quota system in government jobs, highlighting that this is a court matter and everyone should respect court orders. He stressed, "There is an obligation to comply with court orders. I think everyone should do that."

During his speech, the DMP Commissioner also acknowledged the role of the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB) in organizing various activities, including sports competitions, and appreciated journalists for aiding the police in ensuring justice through investigative reporting.

Virtually joining the event, Social Welfare Minister Dr. Dipu Moni highlighted the importance of investigative journalism, stating, "There is no alternative to investigative journalism." She also noted that the Prime Minister values freedom of expression and works to uphold it.

CRAB President Kamruzzaman Khan expressed gratitude to the journalists and guests for their attendance despite the adverse weather conditions and flooding. CRAB General Secretary Sirajul Islam remarked that the CRAB sports festival and fruit festival were being celebrated in a festive atmosphere.

The event was conducted by Sports and Cultural Secretary of CRAB Rakibul Islam Manik and saw the presence of several notable figures, including Dhaka Reporters Unity President Shukur Ali Shubo, Finance Secretary of Bangladesh Federal Journalist Union and former CRAB President Khairuzzaman Kamal, senior journalist and former CRAB President Parvez Khan, and other former presidents Abul Khair, Mirza Mehdi Tamal, and Isharaf Hossain Isa.

Special guests from Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc., FM Iqbal Bin Anwar (Don), Senior Executive Director, and Rabiul Islam Milton, Senior Deputy Executive Director, were also in attendance.
