More than 200 students were injured in clashes between Bangladesh Chhatra League men and quota protesters on the Dhaka University campus on Monday.
As many as 226 injured were treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) until 6pm, said Md Mizan, an employee at the hospital’s Emergency Department.
Of them, eleven students were admitted to the hospital, he added.
Meanwhile, an incident of chase and counter-chase between Chhatra League activists and demonstrators also took place on the DMCH premises.
In another development, a large number of police have been deployed on the campus following clashes. The law enforcers were seen taking position at Doyel Chattar and beside Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Hall.
The police said the university administration requested them to take position on the campus only to calm the situation.
