2,400 stranded tourists leave Cox’s Bazar amid tight security

Some 2,400 tourists, who were stranded in Cox’s Bazar for several days, were returning home amid tight security on Tuesday.

Shahin Imran, deputy commissioner of Cox’s Bazar, said 65 buses and a number of minibuses carrying the tourists left for Dhaka and other parts of the country around 8 am, UNB reports.

A number of tourists were sent to their respective homes in Sitakunda, Satkania and Chattogram by minibuses.

Around 3,000 more stranded tourists are scheduled to leave Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday, the deputy commissioner said.

All tourists were moved under special arrangement of the local administration amidst tight security. _ UNB
