A Bangladeshi expatriate named Abdur Rahim Rony (22) has died in a road accident in Saudi Arabia. He was the only son of Joynal Abedin Joni from Raykot village in the Chouddagram upazila of Cumilla.
He passed away at the Al Qassim General Hospital at around 11:45 AM on Wednesday, October 2. Earlier, on Tuesday night, he sustained serious injuries in a road accident while traveling from Riyadh to Dammam near Al Qassim.
Abdur Rahim Rony graduated from Chouddagram Government College with an HSC in 2022 and went to Saudi Arabia in July of this year. He was a member of the North Raykot Union Student Wing of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
His uncle, Master Jafar Ahmed, stated that Rony was working at a hotel in Riyadh. On the night of the incident, he and several others were sent by car from Riyadh to another hotel owned by his employer in the Dammam area. The driver of the vehicle fell asleep while driving, causing the car to collide with a cargo truck, which resulted in severe damage. Rony was critically injured in the accident. The police rescued everyone and took them to the local Al Qassim General Hospital’s ICU, where he passed away at around 11:45 AM the following day.
