3 Additional IGP Sent Into Mandatory Retirement

The government has sent three additional inspectors general of police, including the former director general of RAB, Barrister Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid, into mandatory retirement.

Today, Wednesday (October 9), the Ministry of Home Affairs issued separate notifications regarding the retirement of these three officials.

The other two officials sent into mandatory retirement are Mohammad Shahabuddin Khan, the head of the Highway Police, and Dr. Kh. Mohid Uddin, a former additional commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police currently working in the Tourist Police.

The notifications, signed by Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen, Senior Secretary of the Ministry's Public Security Division, state that their retirement is in the public interest under the provisions of Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018). However, they will receive retirement benefits in accordance with the regulations.

The order, issued in the interest of the public, will take effect immediately, as noted in the notifications.
