2 Shot Outside Pongu Hospital, One Arrested

Two people were shot in front of the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), popularly known as Pongu Hospital, in Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Thursday, police said.

Their identities were not immediately known. 

Police arrested a youth identified as Rony Sheikh Rubel, who was found with a pistol at the scene, according to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mozammel Haq. Two others, Akash and Rakibul, fled. 

Rony told police during initial questioning that he owns a fruit shop in front of the hospital. Efforts are on to apprehend the others involved in the incident, Haq added.
