New Zealand Tour of Bangladesh Postponed due to COVID-19

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC) have decided to postpone the upcoming test series in August-September this year for a later date.

New Zealand was expected to come to Bangladesh to play two ICC World Test Championship matches. The two boards will now work to identify the appropriate time for the rescheduling of the series.

"In the existing pandemic scenario of COVID-19, hosting a full cricket series in August 2020 will be a challenge in terms of preparations and we can not take chances with the safety and health of players, support staff and related stakeholders," said BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury on Tuesday.

‘Under these circumstances, the BCB and NZC have felt that the best way forward would be to defer the series. We realize that this will be hugely disappointing for the players and officials of both teams, not to mention the fans of the two nations but I must thank NZC for its understanding and for recognizing the rationale behind such a decision,” he added.
