BCB in Trouble with DRS Due to Engineer's Quarantine Complexity

The Bangladesh-Windies series will start with the first ODI on January 20. A Decision Review System (DRS) has arranged for this series by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). However, because of his responsibility to remain in quarantine, the engineer who will be in charge of DRS management does not have DRS from the first match.

The head of the media committee of the BCB Jalal Yunus informed this. He said at the TV rights announcement ceremony in Gulshan on Monday that an engineer would come from London to manage the DRS. As the coronavirus situation in England is not good, 14 days quarantine is mandatory for all those coming from that country, reports media.

As a result, DRS may not be available between the Bangladesh and Windies from the first ODI. The BCB will, however, seek to minimize the quarantine time for the engineer in question. If that is not feasible, the second ODI, to be held in Mirpur on 22 January, will make the DRS system available.

Regarding this, Jalal Yunus said, "DRS must be there. But in the case of DRS, one issue is that our engineer is supposed to come from London. You know there are covid protocols for England returnees. The first 4 days out of 14 days should be in isolation. That means you have to stay in government isolation for 4 days. And he will be able to stay in his own system for 10 days."

"We have appealed to the health ministry to reduce it. At the same time, we have talked to the Covid Authority, who looks after it. If we get an engineer on time, it could be on the 20th. If you can finish everything on time, maybe DRS won't be a problem. Otherwise, the problem of DRS will be solved after this match."

The Bangladesh-Windies will play the first two ODIs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on January 20 and 22. On January 25 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, Tamim Iqbal's side will face the Caribbean in the third and final ODI.
