Allrounder Shakib Al Hasan commented that he is not in the condition
to play cricket physically and mentally as well. So, he submitted a letter to
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) seeking leave from the South Africa tour.
However, BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon is not upset over Shakib’s comment. Rather, he raised a question that if Shakib would say this if he got a chance in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Papon said, “Shakib would not submit his name to the IPL
auction if he was so upset mentally.”
Shakib said on Sunday (March 06) night before he left Dhaka
for Dubai, “I don’t think it’s possible to play international cricket for me,
considering the mental and physical condition. That’s why I think if I get a break if I get that interest back, it will be easy for me to play the games.”
The day after the end of the Afghanistan series, Shakib
talked to the media at the airport to reveal his position. However, Nazmul Hasan
Papon did not like Shakib’s behavior. The BCB president expects more
professional behavior from him.
He said, “We are not upset at all. He is mentally and
physically upset. If he had a problem, he could let us know. Rather, he told the media at the airport, he could talk to us during the day. He could talk to the
Coach or talk to Sujan (Khaled Mahmud). Suddenly giving a surprise like this,
many people don’t like it.”
