Bangladesh cricket team has returned home at the end of their World Cup campaign. This Friday (June 28), the cricketers set foot at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. They arrived in Dhaka from Antigua via Miami, USA, and Dubai.
During their two-week break, the cricketers will join the ongoing Tigers' camp in Chittagong once their vacation ends. They will be training under the supervision of BCB coach Sohel Islam. Until the arrival of the national team coaches, they will prepare for the busy Test schedule.
Moreover, many players will be occupied with franchise cricket in the coming one-and-a-half months. Shakib Al Hasan will play in the Major League in the USA, while Shariful Islam, Mohammad Saifuddin, and Rishad Hossain will participate in Canada's Global T20. Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed will feature in the Lanka Premier League.
Bangladesh had a mixed experience in this edition of the World Cup. After a superb performance in the group stage, the Super Eight stage disappointed Bangladeshi fans. Despite winning matches against the Netherlands and Nepal in the subsequent matches of the group stage, the Tigers ensured their place in the Super Eight.
The Super Eight started with a big loss against Australia, followed by a close match against India, where Bangladesh couldn't secure a victory. However, they had a chance to reach the semi-finals with a definitive win against Afghanistan. Despite restricting Afghanistan to 115 runs in 12 overs and 1 ball, they couldn't chase the target, thus concluding their Super Eight journey winless.
This edition marked Bangladesh's most successful T20 World Cup yet, prior to this they couldn't win 3 matches
