Messi, Álvarez send Argentina to the Copa América final

Argentina is one win away from its third straight major international title. Lionel Scaloni's team has once again reached the final stage of the Copa America as the defending champion.

They beat Canada by 2-0 goal in the first semi-final. Following the victory, the 'Albiceleste' reached the final stage for the 30th time.

Argentina and Canada met at MetLife Stadium in the United States at 6:00am (Bangladesh time) on Wednesday (July 10). From the beginning of the match, Argentina showed their dominance in the fight for possession of the ball.

The word champion dominated in ball possession with 51 percent and 11 attempts at scoring. On the contrary, Canada tried to dominate in ball possession with 49 percent and three attempts at scoring.

Julián Álvarez put the Albiceleste ahead in the 22nd minute and Messi redirected Enzo Fernández's shot in off goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau in the 51st. Messi has 28 goals in his last 25 matches for Argentina and 14 in Copa America play, three shy of the record.
