The 9th ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in Bangladesh on October 3. However, ongoing instability in the country has raised security concerns for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

The BCB has already requested assistance from the military for the World Cup's organization. With many of the board's decision-makers currently unavailable, there is a possibility that the women's World Cup might not take place. However, Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, advisor to the interim government’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, has expressed optimism about the tournament.

In an interview with the media, Asif Mahmud said he is actively working on organizing the Women’s T20 World Cup. He hopes that the event will stay in Bangladesh, as losing it would be detrimental to the country's image. He noted that Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who has been involved in sports and recently engaged with the Olympics, is providing valuable leadership. He plans to meet with secretaries and discuss necessary reforms to ensure the successful hosting of the World Cup.

Asif Mahmud further stated that he has not yet had the opportunity to visit the ministry since his swearing-in on August 8. He mentioned that there have been many official meetings since then, and significant steps need to be taken. For now, he prefers not to make any comments on the situation until he fully understands the overall circumstances.
