Bangladesh Beat Pakistan By Six Wickets To Sweep Series || Photo : Collected
Bangladesh sealed a dominating six-wicket victory against hosts Pakistan and achieved a historic 2-0 Test series win away from home at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi Tuesday.
Two experienced campaigners Mushfiqur Rahim (22*) and Shakib Al Hasan (21*) were at the crease when Bangladesh secured the win.
The Tigers lost both the openers in the first hour of the fifth day’s play after resuming the day on 42 for no loss. Both openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam went back to the pavilion after scoring 40 and 24 respectively.
Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto (33) were unbeaten at the crease with Mominul Haque (20) after 34 overs with 122 runs on the board at lunch session on day five.
Later Skipper Shanto got out scoring 38 after the lunch session and Mominul also got out scoring 34.
Earlier, Bangladesh pace bowlers Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana shared nine wickets to help dismiss Pakistan for 172 in their second innings on the fourth day.
Hasan took 5/43 and Nahid finished with 4/44 to leave Bangladesh needing 185 for a 2-0 series win.
Salman Agha top-scored for the hosts with an unbeaten 47 while Mohammad Rizwan made 43.
Bangladesh won the first Test by 10 wickets and have a great chance of winning the Test series against Pakistan for the first time.
They have won only two series away from home, against the West Indies in 2009 and Zimbabwe in 2021.
