After taking office, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Faruk Ahmed embarked on his first official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He traveled to the Middle Eastern country to finalize the roadmap for the Women’s World Cup, which is set to begin on October 3.
Originally, the tournament was scheduled to be hosted in Bangladesh. However, due to political instability, the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to relocate the event to the UAE. Despite the change in location, Bangladesh remains the official organizer of the tournament.
During his visit, Faruk Ahmed met with UAE Cricket Board President Mubarak Al Nahyan and other officials, in the presence of ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice.
Following the meeting, Faruk Ahmed expressed optimism for a successful tournament: “We thank the UAE Cricket Board for taking steps to host the Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai and Sharjah. Both venues have a history of hosting major global events and international cricket for many years. We have full confidence in their ability to organize the tournament successfully. The relationship between our boards is extremely cordial, and we look forward to working closely with the ICC. The UAE Board’s commitment to successfully hosting the event is evident.”
