BFF Rewards Women's Football Team With Tk1.5Cr After SAFF Win

The Bangladesh women's football team has won the SAFF Championship two consecutive times. In recognition of their outstanding performance, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has announced a reward of 1.5 crore Bangladeshi Taka.

On Saturday (November 9), the newly elected committee of the BFF held its first meeting, after which Media Committee head Amirul Islam Babu briefed the press. During the briefing, he announced that the SAFF Champion women's team would receive 15 million Taka as a reward. 

Babu also clarified that the reward would not only go to the players but also to everyone involved with the team. He mentioned, “Everyone who was part of the team will receive this reward from BFF.” 

Despite the BFF's financial challenges, where sometimes the players' salaries are delayed, they will make every effort to provide the 1.5 crore Taka reward. Babu stated, "We will gather the 1.5 crore Taka soon, and once we have it, we will give it to the women’s football team." Although the federation faces budget constraints, the wealthier members of the newly elected committee will likely contribute to funding the reward.

Previously, in 2022, the Bangladesh women's team also won the SAFF Championship, but there was no official announcement or reward from the BFF at that time. However, BFF's then Senior Vice-President Abdus Salam Murshedy and Vice-President Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan Manik personally gave 5 lakh Taka each to the champions.

This time, after winning the championship again, the Bangladesh Cricket Board was the first to announce a reward of 20 lakh Taka. The Ministry of Youth and Sports followed suit, offering 1 crore Taka, as announced by Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sojib Bhuiyan. After returning to Bangladesh with the trophy from Kathmandu, the champions met with Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus within two days.
