A warrant for the arrest of former captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team and former Member of Parliament Shakib Al Hasan has been issued by the court.
On Sunday (January 19), the court issued the arrest warrant against him.
It is reported that the arrest warrant was issued in connection with a check dishonor case filed by IFIC Bank. Besides Shakib, two other individuals have also had arrest warrants issued in the same case.
Earlier, on December 18, the court had issued summons against Shakib and three other individuals. At that time, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka, under Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Mahbubul Haque, made the order.
The other defendants in the case, apart from Shakib, are Gazi Sahgir Hossain, Imdadul Haque, and Maleka Begum.
According to case documents, a case for check dishonor involving a sum of 41.45 million taka was filed on December 15 against Shakib and three others. On January 18, the court ordered the accused to appear before it.
Through this order, the court has directed the defendants, including Shakib, to appear in court. The court had earlier expressed the possibility of issuing arrest warrants for defendants who failed to comply with the order, and accordingly, arrest warrants were issued for them on Sunday.
