Some Bangladeshi firms have partnered with Elon Musk’s Starlink to support setting up ground earth stations in Bangladesh.
A Starlink team currently visiting Bangladesh signed the contracts. The collaboration includes space allocation, construction support and ongoing infrastructure maintenance, the Chief Adviser's Press Wing said Saturday (March 8).
In some places, local firms are providing support using their properties, while Starlink is considering the Hitech Park property in some other places.
Discussions on locations and implementation details are ongoing, said Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser.
He hoped that Starlink would ensure reliable and high-speed internet in Bangladesh's cities and remote areas. Starlink will accelerate the daily activities and digital economic initiatives of our entrepreneurs, freelancers, NGOs, and SME businesspeople, he said.
"We will continue to try to implement a sensible model with Starlink in the next 90 days," Taiyeb added.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus invited Tesla and SpaceX CEO Musk to visit Bangladesh and launch the Starlink service here.
Prof Yunus asked his High Representative Dr Khalilur Rahman to coordinate with the SpaceX team to ensure completion of the necessary work to prepare Starlink for launch in Bangladesh within three months.
On February 13, the Chief Adviser held an extensive telephonic discussion with Musk to explore future collaboration and to make further progress in introducing Starlink satellite internet service in Bangladesh.
