Indian HC Takes on Misleading Reports on Shringla's Visit

Indian High Commission in Dhaka has rebuffed misleading media reports on the recent visit of foreign secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla.

Shringla came to Bangladesh on a two-day visit ending on August 19.

He called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and held official meeting foreign secretary Masud Bin Momen.

Both countries renewed pledge to take bilateral relations to a new high. A joint trial of the Covid-19 vaccine was also reportedly discussed.

Various newspapers, online news portals, and TV channels carried news items many of which are allegedly baseless.

In a twitter message on Monday, Indian High Commission rejected such news terming it to be concocted and motivated.

“On Foreign Secretary’s recent visit to Dhaka, some media outlets have published ill-intentioned, factually incorrect and speculative reports with little understanding of India-Bangladesh relations. Such mala fide attempts are highly mischievous and misleading,” said the message.
