Hong Kong scientists disclose the case of a healthy man in his 30s who was reinfected with coronavirus four and a half months after his first fight.
Researchers claim that the genome sequencing indicates that the two types of the virus are "clearly different," making it the world's first confirmed case of reinfection.
The World Health Organization notes that it is necessary not to leap to conclusions based on the situation of one individual.
And experts agree that reinfections can be uncommon and not usually harmful, BBC said.
More than 23 million cases of coronavirus infection have occurred worldwide, BBC reported.
Those infected establish an immunity system as their bodies fend off the infection, which serves to shield them from their return.
The highest antibody reaction was observed in the most chronically sick patients.
Yet it is also not obvious how good this defense or immunity is-or how long it would continue.
And the World Health Organization said larger studies over time of people who had previously had coronavirus were needed to find out more.
