The Israeli military has claimed that Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Lebanon-based Shiite political party and armed group Hezbollah, has been killed in an airstrike.
On Saturday, September 28, the Israeli military made this claim in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to carry out terrorism in the world."
Israeli airstrikes targeted various locations in Lebanon, including the capital Beirut, throughout the night on Friday. Reports indicate that the strikes focused on a command center of Hezbollah, aiming at Hassan Nasrallah and other leaders of the organization. Following the attacks, news of Nasrallah's death was reported.
However, Hezbollah has not officially confirmed what happened to Nasrallah and has issued no statement regarding the situation. A source close to Hezbollah told Reuters that he has not been located.
On the same day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in the United States, stating that his country would continue its attacks in Gaza and Lebanon. This declaration was immediately followed by intensified strikes in Lebanon.
