A fire in a school bus carrying teachers and students in Thailand has raised concerns about the possible deaths of 25 individuals.
The incident occurred today, Tuesday (October 1), in the capital city of Bangkok. Sixteen people have been taken to the hospital due to the fire, which happened while the bus was on a field trip in Uthai Thani province, approximately 250 kilometers from the capital, according to Reuters.
Although the police have not confirmed the number of injured or deceased, the country's Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul told reporters that it is believed that 25 people have died in the fire.
Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit stated that 16 students and three teachers have been hospitalized for treatment, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
Videos and photos circulating on social media and local media show smoke rising from the bus, with flames visible in certain areas.
Prime Minister Pita Limjaroenrat expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased students in a post on social media platform X, saying, "As a mother, I deeply sympathize with the families of the students who lost their lives."
