A hospital in Kolkata, Maniktala, has announced that it will no longer treat Bangladeshi patients, citing alleged mistreatment of minorities in Bangladesh.
An official from J.N. Ray Hospital stated that the decision was made because Bangladeshis were reportedly disrespecting the Indian flag.
Subhranshu Bhakta, an official from the hospital, told the Indian news agency PTI on Friday, November 29, that they had decided to stop treating Bangladeshi patients indefinitely because of their disrespect towards India.
The official further stated that there is ongoing persecution of minorities in Bangladesh, and he urged other hospitals to adopt the same approach.
He added that India played a significant role in Bangladesh's independence war, but now, increasing anti-India sentiment in Bangladesh is concerning. He expressed hope that other hospitals would follow suit and take similar steps.
