The U.S. Fire Service has started to gain control over two major wildfires on the east and west sides of Los Angeles. The spread of the wildfires has slowed down significantly due to a reduction in strong winds, allowing the fire service to begin managing the fires as of Friday.

According to Reuters, six wildfires started simultaneously on Tuesday, devastating areas around Los Angeles County. At least 10 people have been killed, and nearly 10,000 homes have been destroyed, though these numbers could rise.

Los Angeles is located in the state of California. California Fire Service reported that until Friday, the fires at Palisades and Eaton had been completely out of control, with no progress in containing them. Despite efforts by hundreds of firefighters using both air and ground methods, the wildfires had been raging uncontrollably for several days. However, by Friday, the Palisades fire was 8% contained, and the Eaton fire was 3% contained.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass stated that efforts are being made to bring the situation under control, and there is positive news regarding the progress.

She added, "We know that the wind intensity may increase at the start of next week, so keeping Los Angeles prepared and doing everything we can to save lives is our primary task."

Meanwhile, according to BBC, firefighters are still battling five other wildfires. These fires have caused unprecedented damage in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
