The depression over westcentral Bay and adjoining area moved northwesters and now lies over the same area and was centered at noon today. It was located 140 km west and south-west of Chattogram seaport, 985 km west and south-west of Cox's Bazar seaport, 935 km south-west of Mongla seaport and 925 km south-west of Payra seaport. It is likely to move northwestwards and intensify further.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44kms of the depression centre is about 40kph rise to 50 kph in gusts. Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal number one. All fishing boats and tawllers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain closed to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture in the deep sea.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted that light rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions in the next 24 hours commencing 9am today.
"Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country," the bulletin said. However, the day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.
Country's maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 36.0 degrees Celsius at Cox's Bazar and today's minimum temperature 16.8 degrees Celsius was recorded at Tetulia.
However, no rainfall was traced anywhere across the country in the last 24 hours till 6am today.
