The coldest weather of this season was recorded in two northern districts, Dinajpur and Tetulia in Panchagarh, on Sunday morning. The current temperature in these regions is 5.5 degrees Celsius.

At 8:30 this morning, the Meteorological Department reported that a mild to moderate cold wave is affecting 28 districts, including two divisions of the country. The minimum temperature in the capital has also decreased compared to yesterday. Meteorological sources indicate that although today's temperature is low, there may be an increase starting tomorrow.

There are a total of 16 districts in the Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions, and a cold wave is affecting 12 additional districts today. These districts include Gopalganj, Madaripur, Manikganj, Moulvibazar, Satkhira, Jeshore, Kushtia, Barishal, Chuadanga, Tangail, Cumilla, and Patuakhali.

The lowest temperature recorded in the capital today is 12.8 degrees Celsius, a drop from yesterday's 13 degrees Celsius. Yesterday, the lowest temperature in the country was recorded in Tentulia, Panchagarh, at 7.2 degrees Celsius. Today, there has been a decrease of more than 2 degrees Celsius in the minimum temperature within a single day.

When the temperature ranges between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius, it is considered a mild cold wave area. A moderate cold wave area is defined by temperatures between 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, and a severe cold wave occurs when the temperature is between 4 to 6 degrees Celsius. Consequently, a severe cold wave is currently affecting Panchagarh and Dinajpur, although the Meteorological Department is refraining from officially labeling it as such.

Meteorologist Bazlur Rashid explained that for an area to be declared under a severe cold wave, the temperature must remain below 6 degrees Celsius for two consecutive days. However, the forecast suggests a rise in temperature again tomorrow, preventing the classification of the current conditions as a severe cold wave.

The meteorologist anticipates a slight increase in temperature nationwide tomorrow, despite the very low temperatures experienced today. Additionally, he noted that most regions, including the capital, are experiencing minimal fog, and the sun has risen in the morning, contributing to an increase in temperature during the day.
