Although the intensity of cold has slightly decreased over the past two days, the situation has changed again since yesterday. Even though February 10 has passed, the severity of cold persists in many parts of the country. According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, a mild cold wave is prevailing over 19 districts of the country. The remaining days of the month are also expected to witness a similar cold sensation.

Starting from today, Saturday (February 10), temperatures will rise in most parts of the country. Simultaneously, areas under the influence of the mild cold wave will experience a reduction in cold intensity. However, in two or three places, the minimum temperature may remain below 10 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, mild cold waves are prevailing over Kishoreganj, Maulvibazar, and Chuadanga along with 16 other districts of Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions.

Regarding this, weather expert Bozlur Rashid mentioned that when a significant portion of a region experiences a mild cold wave, it is assumed that the entire area is under the influence of the cold wave. However, while the cities of Rangpur and Bogura may have slightly higher temperatures, the rural areas experience colder conditions. Hence, these areas have also been brought under the purview of the cold wave.

Analyzing the information from the Meteorological Department, it can be seen that in December, the intensity of cold was comparatively lower across the country. The temperature in December was slightly higher than normal by about 1 degree Celsius. However, from the beginning of January, the severity of cold began to increase. In January, the average temperature was about 1 degree Celsius lower than normal. Moreover, last month, mild to moderate cold waves occurred four times in various parts of the country. Even in almost half of the country, there was continuous cold wave for several days.

It is notable that since February 8 of the current month, cold waves have again affected 19 districts of the country. Apart from the areas affected by cold waves, the minimum temperature in most parts of the country yesterday ranged from 11 to 17 degrees Celsius. In Dhaka, the minimum temperature yesterday was 15.9 degrees Celsius.
