Heatwave Alert Extended For 3rd Time Till 30 April

The Prevailing mild to very severe heat wave over the country may continue. The Meteorological Department has extended the heat alert mentioning that the prevailing heat wave may continue during the next 72 hours commencing today, 28 April. Due to increasing moisture incursion, the discomfort may increase.

The notification was informed in a circular signed by MeMeteorologist Hafizur Rahman.

The heat wave has started in different parts of the country from the very first day of this month. Yesterday till Saturday, 27 consecutive days of heat waves in different parts of the country. This is a record of 76 years. Earlier in 2010, there was a 20-day heat wave in Rajshahi. But then this temperature was not continuous. Last year there was a heat wave for 16 consecutive days.

Yesterday, the highest temperature in the country was recorded at Chuadanga at 42.7 degrees Celsius. The previous day on Friday, the temperature of Chuadanga was 42.7 degrees. It was the highest temperature this year.

The highest temperature recorded in the capital yesterday was 37.4 degrees Celsius. Yesterday, the temperature of the capital dropped by more than 1 degree Celsius compared to the previous day.

April is the warmest month in the country. The temperature is always extreme in this month. The characteristic of this month is that there will be intense heat, and it will decrease due to rain. Then heat will rise again. But this time there was an exception.
