The ongoing heat wave in the country may reduce slightly from tomorrow Thursday, according to Meteorological Department. There is a possibility of rain on May 5 across the country. And the temperature may drop a little more after the rain.

Mild to very severe heat wave is sweeping over the country since April 1. The highest temperature in the country was recorded yesterday in Jashore, 43.8 degrees Celsius. This is a record of 35 years.

Earlier in 1989, the maximum temperature in Bogura was 44 degrees Celsius.

However, this temperature may decrease from tomorrow, according to the meteorologists of the Department of Meteorology.

They said that it is raining in some areas of the country today. The temperature may drop a little from tomorrow.

The Meteorological Department said yesterday that there may be rain across the country on May 4 to 5.

Meteorologist Umar Faruk said that there is a possibility of rain across the country on May 5. It will reduce the temperature a bit.

Yesterday the highest rainfall in the country was recorded in Sylhet, 53 mm.

However, if it rains only in one or two areas, the ongoing heat wave will not reduce, meteorologists think. It needs heavy rain across the country.

A maximum temperature of 36 to 37.9 degrees Celsius is called a mild heat wave, 38 to 39.9 degrees Celsius is a moderate heat wave, 40 to 41.9 degrees Celsius is a severe heat wave and 42 degrees Celsius or more is called a very severe heat wave, according to the Meteorological Department.

Most thunderstorms occur in the country in the month of May.

Some thunderstorms also occur in June, September and April. But this time till April 26 only one thunderstorm or Kalbaisakhi has occurred in the country. It also happened in the southern part of the country. That is also unusual.

This image was obtained by analyzing the number of thunderstorms from the year 1981 to the current year 2024 of the Meteorological Department.

Meteorologists and climatologists call this behavior of nature unusual.
