The agitating
students have cut off the electricity supply to the residence of Shahjalal
University of Science and Technology (SUST) Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid
Uddin Ahmed.
Sadia Afrin, an
agitating student, said that the connection was disconnected around 7:30 pm on
Sunday (January 23).
The agitating
students said, “While our brothers and sisters are on hunger strike, the
Vice-Chancellor is spending his days in comfort. We can't accept that. We have
cut off the power supply to the Vice Chancellor's residence as part of our
movement.”
Earlier in the
afternoon, agitating students surrounded the Vice Chancellor's residence. The
students then announced that no one would be allowed inside the
vice-chancellor's residence except law enforcement.
After starting the
blockade program, the students said that the way the situation is progressing
is forcing us to move towards a more stringent program. Only the police can
enter the residence of the Vice-Chancellor. In the future, they will be forced
to shut down emergency services at the vice-chancellor's residence. As part of
this, the power supply to the residence of the Vice-Chancellor has been cut
off, the students said.
