RAB arrests JMB activist in Barishal

Rapid Action Battalion 8 arrested a suspected member of the banned Islamist outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladeshfromt South Kazir Char in Muladi of Barishal early Friday.

The arrested was Salauddin Kawsar, 40, resident of South Kazirchar in Muladi.

Salauddin joined the organisation in 2016 after he got in touch one of its leaders Sultan Nasiruddin Nasir who persuaded Salauddin to work for its propagation unit responsible for recruiting new members, said the battalion’s deputy commander Major Sajibul Islam Sajib.

The battalion would hand over Salauddin to Muladi police station after interrogating him and filing a case with the station, added Sajibul.

Salauddin had his education at a madrassah and worked as an electrician and also as an imam at a local mosque, he added.
