3 Killed in Rangpur Road Crash

Three persons were killed and three others injured in a road accident at Bachhurbandha point on the Rangpur-Saidpur highway in Taraganj Upazila of the district today.

The accident occurred when a Dhaka Saidpur-bound night coach hit a Rangpur-bound ambulance in the area from opposite directions at 7:30 am killing two people on the spot onboard the ambulance and injuring another four.

"Night coach driver lost control of the steering after puncturing one of his front wheels and reaching the ambulance causing the mishap," Taraganj Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Kibria told BSS.

When informed police rushed to the place, rescued the wounded and sent them to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where the ambulance's injured driver succumbed about 11 am.

“The deceased ambulance passengers were identified as Sathi Akhter, 25, and Biplob Hossain, 25, of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila and ambulance driver Rubel, 25, of Pirganj Upazila in Thakurgaon district,” OC Kibria said.

Police seized the ill-fated vehicles and a complaint with the Taraganj police station was lodged in this regard.
