Lakshmipur, Bogura to Get Universities

The Cabinet has authorized the draft laws on the creation of universities of science and technology in Lakshmipur, Bogura, to be called Lakshmipur University of Science and Technology and Bogura University of Science and Technology respectively.

The approval came in Monday (Jan 26) at a routine Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheik Hasina in the position, Senior Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam Briefing told the media after the conference.

The locations for the new universities are yet to be selected, the Cabinet Secretary added.

There are 44 public universities in the country so far and the total would stand at 46 with those two universities.

On the other hand, 105 private universities in the country among them 90 universities have been operating educational activities in the country.
