The elections to the city corporations are not going to be fair as the ruling party has started to push away BNP agents from the polling stations, said Tabith Awal, the BNP backed mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation.

''The agents were even not allowed to enter some stations,'' Tabith said adding that ''The ruling party has started attacking and intimidating from the morning,''

Tabith told these to the media after casting his vote with the electronic voting machine (EVM) at Manarat International School and College at city’s Gulshan.

''We knew the aim of the ruling quarters from before and we’re going to file a complaint with the election commission (EC),' the mayoral candidate said. “We hope the EC will take action. We have not lost all the hopes yet.''

After casting his vote, Tabith went to Kala Chandpur Government Primary School as there were allegations that the BNP agents earlier were not allowed to enter the polling center.

Tabith found neither BNP agent nor any voter at the center except Awami League councilor candidate Zakir Hossain and his men who were patrolling in and out of the center. As the media men appeared, men with ‘boat’ badge quickly formed a queue of fake voters.

''A number of voters are turning up, but it’s taking time to cast vote as EVMs are a new thing,'' presiding officer Azizul Haque told Prothom Alo.
