Awami League Secretary-General and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday came down strongly on Gono Forum President Dr. Kamal Hossain claiming that his offensive language against the government affects both the public and the lawmakers.

"Not only politicians, people across the country have also been hurt by Kamal Hossain's remarks. Ousting the government by giving a kick can not be the language of politics," he said while opening three restored old bridges in Munshiganj district at Gazaria.

Regarding BNP Leader Begum Khaleda Zia's parole, Quader said she is not a political prisoner, so there is no room for her to be legally released from prison.

When BNP carries out violence and arson attacks in the movement's memory, an iron fist will be dealt with to their operations, he added.

Old Kanchpur, Meghna and Gumti bridges were opened after repairing to ease vehicular movement on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.

Senior officials of the government and JICA officers were present on the occasion.
