‘Drug Dealer’ Killed in Naogaon 'Shootout'

In Naogaon's Manda Upazila, an illicit drug dealer was killed in what police Detective Branch (DB) described as a shootout.

The incident occurred at the Upazila Barson Union Parishad around 4 am today, police said.

The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Aurangzeb Zebu, who was accused in 10 drug cases.

Three police officials were also injured in the incident.

They were initially taken to Manda Upazila Health Complex and then moved to Naogaon Sadar Hospital for further care, Naogaon Police Additional Superintendent Rashedul Haque said.

He said: "On a drop-off, a DB police team took Zebu along with them on a drive in the area. When law enforcement arrived on the scene, the drug dealers gang opened fire on them causing police to strike back in self-defense and triggered a shootout. Zebu was caught in the fire line and died on the spot."

Manda police OC Mozaffar Hossain said: "Zebu's body has been brought to the police station."
