Current Fiscal Sees Positive Revenue Collection Growth: Kamal

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today said revenue collection is higher in the current fiscal year 2019-20 than in the previous fiscal year 2018-19.

"The government is always setting a big target for collecting revenue, as all relevant agencies are trying to achieve the aim. In this fiscal, revenue collection is around Taka 12,000 crore higher than the same duration of the previous fiscal year, "he told reporters after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) at the Cabinet Division in the capital.

In response to a question, Kamal said that the top management of state-owned commercial banks will be selected by Bangladesh Bank's approval.

If those rules are enforced for private commercial banks, the banking sector will be better off, he said.

“We have taken steps for amending some provisions in the existing bank company law. I am yet to see the draft amendment. After the draft, we will place it at the cabinet meeting. The meeting will take decision. Then it will be placed before parliament for approval,” he added.
