Dhaka City Mayors-Elect to Be Sworn in Thursday

The newly elected mayors and councillors of Dhaka South and North City Corporations will take their oath at the Prime Minister's Office on Thursday.

Prime Minister Sheik Hasina will serve on Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheik Fazle Noor Taposh and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam at Shapla Hall in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) at 10:30 a.m. in Dhaka.

In addition, Md Tazul Islam, Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives, will administer the oath of office to the General Headquarters and reserved women's seats in the two City Corporations at the same venue, LGRD Public Relations Officer and Co-operative Ministry Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan told reporters on Wednesday.

The DSCC and DNCC polls were held on 1 February. Awami League-backed candidates-Barrister Sheik Fazle Noor Taposh and Atiqul Islam-swept the elections as residents of the capital elected their mayors to hold the offices of DSCC and DNCC for the next five years.
