No Room for Communalism in Bangladesh: HM

Describing Bangladesh as a non-municipal republic, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the nation has no place for communalism.

"The ongoing situation in India will have no effect on Bangladesh that is not part of the community. The law enforcement agencies remain vigilant," he said this afternoon while inaugurating the Darshana police station here.

Regarding expelled chief of the Jubo League Shamima Noor Papia, the minister said after recognizing them, the perpetrators are being brought to trial. Neither godfather nor godmother will be spared, said Kamal.

Turing to Sagar-Runi murder case, he said the investigation is going on and added that the inquiry would yield result soon.

Local lawmakers Solaiman Haque Joarder (Selun) and Md Ali Azgar, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police of Khulna range Dr Khandaker Mahid Uddin and Superintendent of Police of Chuadanga Jahidul Islam were present on the occasion, among others.

Later, the home minister addressed a rally against militancy, terrorism and drug abuse at the Darshana Government College playground.
