The High Court has released a rule questioning why it should not be declared illegal to remove a Pirojpur judge who rejected a former ruling party lawmaker's bail appeal.
Secretaries of the Ministry of Law and Parliamentary Relations have been asked to respond by Mar 11 to the rule.
Judges Tariq-ul-Hakim and Md Iqbal Kabir issued an order on Wednesday (March 4) after Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akand took media reports on the move to the court.
On 3 March, Pirojpur District and Sessions Judge Md Abdul Mannan rejected the bail petition of the former legislator of the Awami League for Pirojpur-1 AKM Awal and his aunt and ordered them to be sent to jail on a grafting issue.
The law ministry transferred the judge that very day and Awal and his wife were granted bail within four hours.
