Govt Fixes Price of Hand Sanitizer

Directorate-General of Drug Administration (DGDA) has set the hand sanitizer price of seven drug manufacturers in the country as some dishonest businessmen demand extra money taking advantage of Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19).

The directorate released a notification signed yesterday by DGDA Director-General after discussing price-fixing with the manufacturing firms, an official release said here today.

Selling more than one hand sanitizer to one person is forbidden, the release said, adding if hand sanitizer is sold above the fixed price legal action against the respective businessmen will be taken, the release said.

The notification notes that SK+F Pharmaceutical Limited will offer 50 millilitres (ml) of hand-rub solution at Taka 40 while Taka 52 and Taka 500 sell 100ml and 200ml, respectively.

ACI Pharmaceuticals Limited is asked to sell 500ml Hexisol Hand Rub solution (with the dispenser) at Taka 215.65 and 250 ml at Taka 140.42.

250 ml Hexisol Hand Rub (bottle) of ACI will be sold at Taka 130.39, 500 ml at Taka 196.33 and 50 ml at Taka 40.12 and 10 ml at Taka 10 and 100 respectively, while its 10 ml and 50 ml Clean Gel hand sanitizer.

Other pharmaceutical companies include Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd, General Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Greenland Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Opsonin Pharmaceuticals Ltd, which have set the price of those hand rub products.
