Situation Like Shutting Educational Institutions Not Created Yet: Dipu Moni

Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni on Sunday said educational institutions will not be shut down for now as the condition over the country's coronavirus epidemic has not worsened drastically.

However, the minister suggested that, if appropriate, the decision to close down educational institutions might be made after examining the country's coronavirus situation.

She came up with the remarks after distributing prizes to National School Hockey Tournament winners at the capital's Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium while talking to reporters.

Dr. Dipu Moni said, “Till now, local people have not been infected with coronavirus in the country. Therefore, a situation like shutting the educational institutions has not been created yet. We will make the decision on this (shutting educational institutions) if the coronavirus affects the local people.”

However, owing to the global coronavirus epidemic, the Ministry of Education has yet not taken any move to close down educational establishments.

“If there’s any decision, everyone will be informed,” said an official release, signed by Mohammad Abul Khair, public relations officer of the ministry.

The statement of the ministry also urged all not to get confused over it.
