Jessore 'Gunfight' Kills 'Drug Dealer'

Last night, a suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported gunfight with the police in Ballabpur, Chougachha Upazila, Jessore.

The victim was Jahirul Islam, 40, a resident of Andulia village in the Upazila. The local police claimed he was accused in 11 cases.

"Drug dealers opened fire on the police during a night drive near Ballabpur School," said Rifat Khan Rajib, officer-in-charge of Chougachha Police Station.

"Jahirul was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot," he said.

Police later recovered the body, a pistol, and 100 bottles of Phensidyl from the spot.
