Tourists Gathering Restricted at Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach

District administration of Cox's Bazar on Wednesday placed a ban on people gathering at Sea Beach to prevent the further spread of coronavirus in the country.

Hotel and motel owners also sought to discourage local and foreign tourists from visiting Cox's Bazar Sea Beach.

According to local sources, tourist police and several mobile courts had conducted drives and forced many tourists back to their hotel room from the beach this afternoon.

Md Kamal Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazar, told the media that prohibitions on citizens gathering at Sea Beach had been imposed since Wednesday afternoon. In this regard, many mobile courts have been triggered in the beach area.

Meanwhile, Fakhrul Islam, Cox's Bazar Tourist Police Assistant Superintendent of Police, told media that tourist police are running campaigns among visiting domestic and foreign tourists telling them not to collect or keep any program at the beach.

Before this evening, the Sea beach will be evacuated, said ASP Fakhrul Islam adding that the evacuation of tourists from hotels and motels will begin from Thursday morning. Around the same moment, no-one in the beach region would be permitted to assemble.

According to hotel managers, around 3000 visitors stayed in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday. One thousand visitors, among them, visited St. Martin on Coral Island.
